Hazel Fox Shuler, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 14, 2021 after a period of declining health. A native of Jackson County, Hazel was born on December 22, 1935 to the late Robert and Alice Gregory Fox.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Shuler. Also preceding her in death were brothers Grady and Wade Fox, sister Essie Woodard and infant sister Edith Fox, and sister-in-law Betty Fox.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Williams and her husband, Steve. Also surviving are 2 granddaughters: Stephanie (Travis) Tarbet and Alison (Nicholas) Arnold and 4 great grandchildren: Ben, Caroline, Kenan and Sloan whom she greatly adored and lovingly called her “Mamaw Fluffy”. She is also survived by sister-in-law Jeanette Bond and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Asheville where she loved to worship and fellowship with her church family.
Her family wishes to extend their utmost appreciation to Haywood Hospice staff along with her special caregivers-Mary Arrington, Jean Banks, Melody Davis, Renee Sherrill, and Anna Bost.
The family plans to hold a private Memorial Service where she will be buried with her beloved husband.
