Harold Richard Byas, 83, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehab in Burnsville, NC.
He was born September 14, 1941, in Swannanoa, Buncombe County, to the late Vernon Theodore and Sara Elizabeth (Reid) Byas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jeannetta Lee (Frost) Byas, who died June 21, 2019.
A graduate of Montreat College, Harold retired from a career as a Tool & Die Engineer from Square D, a flagship brand of Schneider Electric. He was a devoted husband and father and made his famous buttermilk pancakes every Sunday for his family. He attended Bent Creek Baptist Church and was a devout Christian.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff and wife Rhonda of Asheville, Tim and wife Tabitha of Arden, three grandchildren, Austin Byas and wife Morgan, Cody Wills and wife Shannon, and Morgan Byas, as well as two great-grandchildren with a third on the way.
A private graveside service will be held by the family.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
