Gordon Schuyler McChesney, born April 11th, 1929 in Rochester, NY, passed away January 24th, 2017 at the Solace Center in Asheville.
Joe owned an advertising agency, The Advertising Works, in San Diego where he and Donna, his wife of 64 years, lived with their 4 children.
Once Joe and Donna retired in Asheville, he went back to his fine art training and began painting watercolors. Joe created a collection of over 100 paintings inspired by the beauty of Asheville and his childhood summer home in the Adirondacks.
When Joe wasn't painting he volunteered at the Asheville VA, where he enjoyed meeting and caring for local veterans for more than 20 years.
The relationship Joe and Donna shared with their neighbors created an extended family that they treasured.
Joe's artistic talent, generosity, wicked sense of humor and tenacious spirit will be missed.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Donna and daughter Robin. He is survived by his daughters Paige and Pamela and his son, Todd. Joe is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica, Ivy, Amanda, Brent, Joshua, Lindsay, Cicely, Michael and Samantha, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in April.
