Glenna Boone Ballew, 74, of Asheville, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Ballew was a native of Burnsville, NC, and was a daughter of the late Dolly Wyatt and James Edward Boone. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Ballew. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin Grooms; daughters, Genene Ballew Butler (Mark) and Denese Ballew; grandchildren, James A. Butler (Heather) and Charles Dean Butler; great-grandsons, Mark Riley Butler and John Devon Butler; sisters, Golda Peterson, Nina Silver, and Betty McDougald (Basil); and brothers Butch and Harold Dean Boone.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., prior to the service.
Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery.

Our heartfelt condolences to each of you during this difficult time. Heaven has gained another angel. Heaven was most assuredly celebrating upon her arrival. She loved her Savior, family, and church family. Glenna will be forever remembered for her kindness, faith, and friendship. Mother and I will miss our friend and coffee visits. Each of you will be remembered in prayer now and the days ahead.
