George Keith Burnette, 71, of Chestnut Creek, Candler, died on Monday, November 22, 2010, at his residence. A native of Blairsville, GA, he was the son of the late George Curtis and Flora Belle Patterson Burnette. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Burnette. Mr. Burnette had retired from the chem lab at Champion. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Burnette is survived by his wife, Barbara O'Kelley Burnette; daughter, Karen Peterson and husband Rick, of Candler; son, Kurt Burnette and wife Julie, of Candler; sister, Rose Edwards, of Forest City; and three grandchildren, Jessie, Zachary, and Katy Peterson. A funeral service for Mr. Burnette will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Ron Hartman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davis Chapel Church, 36 Piney Mountain Church Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

    I hope you remember me. After going to school with you for seven years I moved to Tennessee in 1955. I am very sorry about Keith. I remember him very well. I wish the best for you through these hard times. God Bless
