A native of Buncombe Co., Gary was a son of the late Mitchell Carroll West and Rose Ellen Taylor Nesmith. Gary was employed by Gene Sizemore and Jerry Robinson.
Surviving are his sister, Darlene Holdren; brother, Dennis West; son, Nicholas Plemmons; step-son, Dakota Plemmons; nieces, Jessica West and Brooke Robertson; and nephew, Brent Rhodes.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
