Gail Charlotte Gregory Burgher

Gail Charlotte Gregory Burgher, 65, died on October 2, 2016. She was the daughter of Worth Bagley Gregory, Jr., and Virginia Toxey Wood Gregory. Gail was a graduate of East Carolina University, and was formerly a writer for both the Daily Advance in Elizabeth City and the Asheville Citizen-Times. She was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, in Elizabeth City. She was married to Richard Allen Burgher, who died on July 24, 2016. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Charles S. Gregory and wife Jan Ann, of Blacksburg, VA; and one nephew, Christopher R. Gregory, also of Blacksburg. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Thursday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ernest "Sonny" Reavis, Jr., officiating. Her family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Carolina University, Greenville Centre, Suite 1100, 2200 S. Charles Blvd., Mail Stop 301, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27858-4353. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
