Evelyn O'Kelley Smith, 87, of Candler, died on Sunday, February 5, 2017.
A native of Buncombe Co., Evelyn was a daughter of the late Monte and Dora Rhodes O'Kelley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Hill "Bud" Smith; sisters Lily Thompson, Margaret Langer and Edythe Kanupp; and brothers Marcell, Zachary and Dayton O'Kelley. Evelyn worked for Woolworth's for forty years.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Michael Smith and wife Karen, of Candler; three grandchildren, K. Jeffrey Smith, Jason Murphy and wife Heather, and Stephanie Cathey and husband, Ben; five great-grandchildren; and sister Inez Bennett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Austin Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Sorry to hear of the lost of a dear friend and class mate of the Candler High School Class 1948. Evelyn and Edythe spend summers writing letters.
