Edward Lee McGlamery, Jr., 71, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Ed was born in Asheville, NC, to the late Eddie and Jenia McGlamery in December, 1952. He grew up on Brevard Road, in Asheville. He was part of the first graduating class of Asheville High School in 1970, then attended night school, graduating from AB-Technical College with an associates degree. Ed worked for Kraft General Foods as Account Manager for 35 years, retiring in 2007.
In 1970, Ed married his wife, Sharon, and they shared 54 loving years together, raising two children, Jenny and Jon, in a home they built in Candler. As lifelong Christians, Ed and Sharon were member of Bent Creek Baptist Church, where he served on the Elder Committee and volunteered with the Awana Group. For many years, Ed was also a member of the West Asheville Little League, serving as a team coach, volunteer, and president of the league.
Ed enjoyed spending his time in many ways. He could often be found in his yard tending his roses, woodworking in his workshop, or taking his beloved dog, Finn, for a golfcart ride. He was an avid golfer, often practicing his swing, chip, or putt. He always found joy being on the golf course, but Ed was truly at his happiest when in the company of his beloved family and friends.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sharon McGlamery; son, Jon McGlamery; daughter, Jennifer McGlamery and her partner Casey Barrett; his sisters, Mary Ann Conrad and husband Mike, and Jean Roberts and husband Toby; and godchildren, Toby Roberts, Zoe Roberts, and Ava Butler. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Millie Bell, and his brother, Jim McGlamery.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 21st at 1:00 p.m. in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The family requests to wear your favorite golf attire in honor of Ed.

McGlamery family-
I can’t fathom the pain your family is experiencing right now. I know how much he was loved, and how much he will be missed. As hard as it is right now, your family is strong enough to withstand even the darkest of storms. I hope your family and loved ones are able to feel the relief that he has found. He’s home.
Your family will be forever in my prayers. I’m so truly sorry for your loss.
Sending prayers for comfort and peace to all his family at this most difficult time. 🙏
I’m so sorry for y’all’s loss. He was a jewel. Enjoyed our many early Friday morning prayer times at Bent Creek. Me and the 2 Eds started out and when Sr passed Ed Jr and I continued. Sometimes a pastor would join us; but, most times just me and him and the Lord. Prayers for the family.
Knowing this family for nearly 70 years, it is sad when one leaves us. The Mc Glamery family will miss one of their own . May they find peace as they grieve Ed’s passing.
Sharon, Jenny and Jon, you are in my thoughts and prayers today and in the coming days and weeks. This is so hard, but I pray that you will be able to hold on to the wonderful memories that all of you have of Ed. He was a special person, and I pray that you find solace and peace in that. Blessings and Love, Mary Ann Carmon

Ed was one of the first people I met when I got into the sales world. He walked me through many obstacles in dealing with certain customers. He was a great man, always smiling and willing to go out of his way to help. I am so sad for Sharon and the family. Rest in Peace, my friend
Love from us all, Casey.
Our sincere prayers to the entire McGlamery Family.
I was so very sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. I enjoyed knowing him from Ingles and Kraft. He touched a lot of peoples lives just knowing him and his family.

Ed was often a voice of reason, often a volunteer when help was needed, and generous with his time. Lots of boys became good men due to his influence in their lives through his coaching. He was a positive role model in so many ways. Praying that Sharon, Jen and Jon feel peace, even in their sorrow, knowing that he has achieved the goal he lived for.
Love and prayers,
