Edith Bates Lance

Edith Bates Plemmons Lance, 98, of Candler, died Monday, February 9, 2015, at Pisgah Manor. A native of Buncombe Co., she is the last of ten children of the late Alfred and Ella Spivey Bates. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Lewis Plemmons and Owen Lance; her son, Max Plemmons; and by her step-daughter, Frances Wolfe. Mrs. Lance was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved her church and gospel music. Mrs. Lance is survived by sons, Donald Plemmons and Roger Lance (Rena); 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Pisgah Manor for their care of Mrs. Lance.
