Dearest Ed:
I cannot believe that you are gone! The hurt of your leaving will never end but the precious memories will remain forever. You were my boss for many years but you were also my dearest friend. You were always very professional, understanding, kind and fair and always exhibited honesty. You always expected from your employees a standard above reproach. Thank you, Ed, for what you did for the people of Haywood County as Administrator/Director of DSS.
Love you, my dear friend. Rest in peace.
John and Sherri, when I was a youngster, I can remember my family visiting the Israels on Sundays.I played with Ed and Johnny Lane. When I came to Clyde to teach I became good friends with Ed and Matilda. We had many good times together. My sympathy, Louise

Dear Israel family,
I am sorry for your loss. May your Heavenly Father see your grief and comfort you during this difficult time. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4.

John and Sherri,
I am so sorry I was unable to attend your father’s memorial service as I was out of town. I really appreciated him. He was on the DSS board that hired me to come to Transylvania, and he was a big encouragement to me while on the Board. His knowledge of county government and his experience as a DSS Director were invaluable to me. One of fondest memories I have with him was the night we traveled to Lake Lure together as he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The NC Asssociation of County Directors of Social Services. I am sorry for your loss, and pray God’s comfort on you in the days to come.
