Eddie Olin Bennett, age 64, of Candler, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Bennett was a son of the late Andy Olin and Ethel Mae Maynard Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a retired dairy farmer. He is survived by his former wife, Renea Ferguson Turner; sons Jason Bennett of Charleston, SC, and Aaron Bennett of Miami, FL; daughters Emily Weidler of Candler, and Erica Bennett of Asheville; grandchildren Jackson, William, Whitney, Tyler, and Johnathan; and brothers Maynard and Glen Bennett, both of Asheville. A funeral service for Mr. Bennett will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hominy Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Interment will follow in the church's cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hominy Baptist Church Building Fund, 135 Candler School Rd., Candler, NC 28715. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  2. To all of the Bennett Family, my prayers are with you in this time of grief. I knew Eddie when we were young. I remember the farm as well. I see it sometimes when I am in Candler and my thoughts are of Eddie and his laugh. I pray that the Lord comforts all of you. And know you will see him again someday. Children of Eddie’s, I know what it is like to lose your Dad, you will miss him but cherish the memories! From a long ago friend. God be with you!
