Edalene Brown West, 87 of Candler, passed away March 14, 2017 peacefully surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Clarence Kennedy West, her parents George S. Brown and Edna H. Brown, brother Gerald N. Brown, sisters-in-law Ruth Green Brown and Grace West Bullard, and brother-in-law Alton Bullard.
"Mamaw" as she was known by many will be remembered for her warm brown eyes and smile, being a talented seamstress, cook, homemaker and the many volunteer hours spent at the Upper Hominy Fire Department. She was a faithful member of White Rock Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons, Danny Clarence West of Candler, Rick Alton West (Peggy) of Kenly, NC, and David George West (Kim) of Candler; six grandchildren, Shawn West, Josh West, Rachel Kennedy Whiteside (Eric), Graham West (Katie), J.T. Burn (Jenny), and Alex Kennedy West (Stephanie); and nine great-grandchildren, Kennedy N. West, Shelby M. Whiteside, Kelsie Grace West, Luke A. West, Madeline Burn, Trevor Burn, Jacob Burn, Zoe West, and Lakelyn Kennedy West.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to DayStay, Inc. c/o Hominy Baptist Church, 135 Candler School Rd., Candler NC 28715 where she was loved on and cared for like family.

Dear West family, so sorry to hear about the passing of Edalene. She came to my shop for haircuts for several years and was a great friend to me and my aunt that she attended school with. She was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
Im sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. Your family will be in our prayers.
Pretty lady you and I will continue our walks to the garden and to the barn. We will hold hands just a little tighter to support us and the barn and reminiscent about our family and friends and the good old days.
Sorry to hear of the loss of my dear friend and class mate for many years. I cherish wonderful memories of our school days at Candler High School and the class reunions of Class of 1948. She was loved by every one she met. Lorraine Frady Norris
