Dr. Amy Dawn Rehfield died on July 5th, 2016 in Asheville, North Carolina at the age of 59. Amy is survived by her husband, Dr. John Joseph Dugan, Jr.; children, Sarah Lynn Dugan, Ellen Jennifer Dugan, John Joseph Dugan III, and Christopher Lawrence Dugan; siblings, Eugene Mark Rehfield and Patricia Lynn Rehfield, both of Vallejo, California. She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and June Rehfield of Roanoke, Virginia. Amy was born on June 11, 1957 in Levittown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1976 with a BA in Natural Sciences and from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. She married John in 1987 and they were happily married for 28 years. Amy practiced medicine for over 32 years, serving patients most in need. Amy imparted a love of education and service to humanity while encouraging her children to become independent and professional individuals in their chosen fields. Amy was a generous soul. Over the 12 years that her four children attended TC Roberson High School, Amy supported them by cheering them on at cross country and track races and organizing team events. She encouraged and celebrated creative and academic endeavors, inspiring her children to achieve their dreams and her husband to enjoy all aspects of family and professional life. A private funeral is scheduled for Sunday, July 10th at 11:00 am at Calvary Churchyard with a reception to follow at noon at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. Rabbi Wolff Alterman will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend the reception and celebrate Amy's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to benefit the Asheville Civitan Award Scholarship Fund at The Asheville Civitan Club.

  5. So sorry to hear if Dr. Amys passing. She was my patient at dr meinholds and then when i went to dr teagues i was privileged to see her there as well. Also a neighbor in Ballantree. She was the sweetest spirit and i will miss her.
