Dorotha Marie Davis Sawyer, 79, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Born October 30, 1943 in Madison Co., Dorotha was a daughter of the late Andy and Eugenia Anderson Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Roland Sawyer.
Surviving is her sons, Michael Allen Sawyer (Sarah) and James Andrew Sawyer (Karen); grandchildren, William Robert Sawyer, Christopher Michael Sawyer, Chloe Sarah Elizabeth Lindsley; and sisters, Carolyn Frances Reid (Tim) and Anna Jeanette Bradburn (Michael).
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Avery White and Jackie Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

Dear James, Michael and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Dot was so Blessed to have 2 sons that loved and cared for her till the end of her journey. I have known this family for about 38 years when I worked with Bob, driving a school bus for the Enka area and they were wonderful people to be around. You have made many memories with your family, cherished them always. Love and prayers to you and the family.
Michael and James , Hazel and I are praying for you and your family in this time of sorrow. I worked with your Mom for many years at the Winn Dixie in Candler. We are praying God Will give you both comfort at this time and the months ahead. We know how much you loved your Mom and how much she loved you.
