Arden ~ Donald Campbell Crawford, Jr. of 45 Southwicke Drive, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in a local hospital.

A native of Jersey City, NJ, Mr. Crawford was a son of the late Donald Campbell Crawford, Sr. and Marion Gaddis Crawford and the husband of Louise Elizabeth Sorrells Crawford. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Ziegler.

Mr. Crawford, a member and former pastor of First Baptist Church of Dunnellon, FL in the 1950’s, received his Master's degree from Western Carolina University and was a retired school teacher from Transylvania County schools. He held membership in the High Country Flying Society, as well as being a writer for Prime Times and a photo journalist for several newspapers.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Crawford is survived by a daughter, Sherry Windham of Ocala, FL; two sons, Robert W. “Butch” Crawford of Ocala, FL and Hank Crawford of Gainesville, FL; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 5 at 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.

  1. We are all saddened by the passing of Don. He was truly a unique gentleman and we cherished his friendship. His writings in Prime Times will be missed by our readers. Our deepest sympathies to Don’s family. We are not able to attend the service on Thursday as we are on our way to a publishers conference. However, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
