Debora Annetta “Nana” Huntsinger Harris, 62, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Mission Hospital.

Debbie was born in Asheville, NC to Wanda Bernice Hurst and the late George James Huntsinger.

Debbie was known and loved by many as “Nana.” She was a member and Sunday School Teacher of Upward Bible Baptist Church in East Flat Rock. She served the church and the people with all her heart for many years and also enjoyed cooking at the camp meetings and other gatherings. She loved all children but especially her grandchildren and her family with all her heart.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James “Rick” Harris; her mother, Wanda Hurst; two sons, James Ray “Jimmy” Harris (Leigh Ann) and Ricky Lee Harris; three sisters, Karen Arrona (Leon), Sheila Biddix and Annette Ray; one brother, Mark Hurst (Jaime); six grandchildren, Kelsey Harris, Laci Harris, Maddy Harris, Brody Austin, Caylee Harris, and Angel Harris and several nieces and nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian at 2:00 pm with Doug Carroll, Michael Peace and Jimmy Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Upward Bible Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

  6. She was a True Definition of a Christian. I will NEVER forget when I first met her. She prayed with me several times, especially when I got Saved! She prayed with me for my children, family and many more needs. Her Love was the try meaning of God’s Love! She will be greatly missed by so many!!

  11. Sis I 💘 you with all my heart. I just don’t know how iam going to make it without you. You have always been our family’s prayer warrior . Always called you for everything. But thank God. You got to see me give my heart to God and I know your in heaven looking down on us .Iam so grateful for being there in your last days to let you know how much I loved you.
