Deborah Louise "Debbie" Bebber, 62, of Windswept Dr., died Sunday, March 10, 2013.
A native of Catawba Co., she was a daughter of Ray Bebber and of the late Louise Setzer McKericher.
Ms. Bebber was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, and attended Appalachian State University. She worked with her father at The Ray Bebber Insurance Agency for 17 years, before establishing her own agency (The Debbie Bebber Insurance Agency, affiliated with Erie Insurance), at the same location, which she operated for 10 years.
Debbie was an avid animal lover, especially of horses and dogs. She belonged to the Asheville Humane Society. While in high school, she combined her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for horses into a riding academy with her friend Monte Maney, at the Brookshire Estate in Malvern Hills.
Debbie was a gourmet cook, and loved to cook for her family and friends, especially on holidays. Debbie had a natural gift for decorating and gift wrapping. She loved Christmas, and was known for her beautifully wrapped gifts. Her beloved dog, "Buck", even liked to open her presents.
Debbie was always known for her generosity, and sincere kindness, which will be long remembered by her family and friends.
In addition to her father, she is survived by brothers David S. Bebber and Doug Bebber and wife Debbie, all of Asheville; and a niece, Emily Bebber.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating, and the Rev. Steve Freeman assisting. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.

Ray, David, Doug/Debbie, Toy and I are so sorry for your loss. Deb always treated me like a brother and I won’t forget her. I do regret we did not spend more of our adult lives with each other. My electing to spend 30 years in the Air Force and retiring to Idaho prevented us having a better relationship. I hope she knew that I loved her. Know that each of you are in my prayers.
I never met Ms. Bebber. My son and I would always notice her business sign when driving on Patton Avenue and wonder what she was like. My heart aches for her family. I’m moved by her advocacy for animals and will definitely make a donation to the Asheville Humane Society in her memory.
It’s so hard to put 50 years of memories into a condolence. Debbie was one of my favorite people. The Bebber family is my extended family, and always has been, and will be.
Debbie Bebber was a true one-of-a-kind lady. I cherish the years I spent with her in my life.

Although I haven’t seen Debbie in many, many years, I will always remember her. We knew each other when we were in our 20’s/30’s, and she took me on my first horseback ride. We both loved animals and I remember she had such a joy for life. Her smile was contagious. I remember when she first went to work at State Farm with her father. Ray, Doug, Debbie, & David…Our heart goes out to you with the sudden loss of Debbie. Of course when I think of her “that contagious smile and her eyes reflexively just appear” The words in which you have described her time here are so descriptive of her unpretentious being. As I go back thru the years; Family Gatherings, Holidays, `n Girl Outings… Debbie always made everyone feel so welcome, genuinely happy to see you `n actually truly cared about what was going on in your life. I adored that she was “A Daddy’s Girl `n That She loved her Brothers & Her Children – The Dogs” So hold on to all your wonderful memories and the Unique Self of Debbie. And know that She did make a Difference in this Life… Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this new Day… Blessings Donna and Steve
Doug, My thoughts and prayers are with you upon your loss.
