Dawn H. Lantzius, nearly life-long Asheville resident, died peacefully on March 9, 2025 in Asheville. She was 91.
Relatives surviving Dawn include nieces Anne Strauss (Edward) and Susan Rich (Michael), grandnieces Louisa and Eleanor Strauss, and grandnephews Jonathan and David Rich. She was predeceased by her brother John L. Lantzius (1930 – 2014).
Born in Vancouver, Canada on July 24, 1933, the daughter of Louis Lantzius and Sylvia Ten Cate Lantzius, Dawn grew up in Asheville. She graduated from St. Genevieve-of-the-Pines School and Pine Manor Junior College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts where she studied French, and also attended Duke University, and Boston University.
Dawn loved Asheville and lived in Biltmore Forest for more than 80 years. As a property owner she was committed to supporting the revitalization of downtown Asheville, in particular with her brother John Lantzius beginning in the late 1970’s. She cared deeply for family and friends to whom she was most kind, caring, and generous.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00pm at Calvary Episcopal Church, 2840 Hendersonville Road in Fletcher, with the Reverend J. Clarkson, Rector officiating.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
