Clarence A. Hodge, 68, of 141 Swannanoa Avenue, Asheville, died Saturday, November 6, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late William Wayne and Nanny Leora Wright Hodge and was also preceded in death by four brothers, Riley Hodge, Bill Hodge, Herbert Hodge and W.W. Hodge, Jr. Mr. Hodge was the owner of Hodge’s Auto Parts on Riverside Drive. He served in Japan with the US Marine Corps as an expert marksman and frogman. Survivors include his wife Edith Waycaster Hodge; two daughters, Patty Hodge Fuller of Knoxville, TN and Linda Hodge Hall of Leicester; two step-children, Pamela Torres of Washington, DC and Larry Searcy of Clarksburg, MD; a sister, Dorothy Childers of Forest City; two brothers, David Hodge of Florida and Charlie Hodge of Morganton; five grandchildren, Drew, Christian, Cecilia, Gabriella and Michelle. Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday at St. George’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Clem Gunn officiating. His family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, 1 School Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  7. Dear Linda, Patty, Edith and family. I am so very sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Clarence personally but can see that he was very loved by all who knew him and that he will truly be missed.
