Catherine Juanita Frady Spillars, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Spillars was born on January 28, 1938 in Asheville, NC to the late Frank Merrimon Frady and Texie Mae Clemmons Frady. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Coy Dean Spillars and two brothers, Edward Frady and Robert Frady.

Catherine was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She had worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor for the Brian Center in Weaverville and Fleshers Rest Home in Fairview most of her life. She was a devoted mother who loved all of her family dearly. She also loved flowers, playing bingo and traveling. She was a member of Trinity of Fairview Church.

She is survived by her five children; Michael Spillars, Allen Spillars (Kris), Karen Spillars Draper (Van), Randy Spillars and Debra Spillars Roberts (Matt); a special nephew that she loved like a son, Albert Spillars; seven grandchildren, Chad Draper (Sarah), Dallas Draper (Chantel), Jason Spillars, Chelsea Spillars (Derek), Hope Sluder (Lucas), Logan Roberts (Sam) and Caitlyn Roberts; seven great grandchildren, Dylan Draper, Haley Draper, Caleb Draper, Della Draper, Joanna Draper, Malakai Sluder and Payslyn Roberts; a brother, Charles Frady and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Stacey Harris officiating. It will be streamed live by clicking the link just below her obituary. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:30 pm to 1:50 pm.

The burial will take place after the funeral at Cane Creek Cemetery in Fairview. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
