Catherine Nesbitt Lytle

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Callie Lee Nesbitt. She was salutatorian of the 1931 class of Fairview High School and was a former employee of Biltmore Manufacturing Co. and of C.P. Clare. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert L. Lytle in 1997, and by two grandsons, Michael Joseph Lytle and Jason Lee Marlowe and one great-granddaughter, Megan Worley.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Luther Barrentine of Asheville and Callie and Paul Miller of Fairview; one son and daughter-in-law Joseph A. and Mildred Lytle of Black Mountain; one grandson, Steven Marlowe of Fairview; five granddaughters, Darlene Young of Fletcher, Vicky Maney of Swannanoa, Susan Miller of Fairview, Donna Worley of Black Mountain, and Laura Marlowe of Asheville; eight great-grandchildren, Robert and Gregory Young of Fletcher, Kendra and Nicholas Maney of Swannanoa, Morgan Worley of Black Mountain, Chelsey and Haley Marlowe of Fairview and Drew Marlowe of Asheville. She is also survived by six sisters, Pauline Latham, Nannie Randolph, Louise Bishop, Lettie Gentle, Ruby Swink and Barbara Banks; and five brothers, Floyd, David, Tom, Bill and Sam Nesbitt.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday at Covenant Community United Methodist Congregation where she was a member, with the Rev. Beth Crissman and the Rev. Randy Stone officiating. Burial will be at Nesbitts Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steven Marlowe, Randall Maney, Roger Worley, Tommy Young, Robert Young and Gregory Young.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. Lytle will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Callie Miller, 584 Old Fort Road, Fairview.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Paving Fund of Covenant Community United Methodist Congregation, 11 Rocket Drive, Asheville, NC 28803.
