Catherine Bell Gibson, of Leicester, NC, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at home.
She was born on February 11, 1934 on the Biltmore Estate, Asheville, NC, and grew up in Hazelwood, NC. She married Thomas Julius Gibson on December 19, 1953, and was a member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian for 64 years.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Remus M. Bell and Margaret J. Bell, and her brother James W. Bell.
She is survived by her husband Thomas J. Gibson, Sr., of the home; one son, Thomas J. Gibson, Jr. (Gwen), of Lenoir, NC; two daughters, Cathy G. Matheson (David), of Asheville, NC, and Heather E. Gibson, of Traveler’s Rest, SC. She has four grandchildren: Zachary Matheson (Leah), Jonathan Matheson (Emily), Caryn Gibson, Julia Youngsmith (Dylan), and five great-grandchildren: Kira Spivey, Kylie Matheson, Klara Matheson, Gabriel Youngsmith and Violet Youngsmith.
The family will receive friends at Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm, followed by the service at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church Decorating Fund.

Catherine was my second cousin. We did not spend that much time in each other’s company, but I remember her as a very sweet person. So sorry for your loss.
