Carolyn Howington Lytle, 79, of Fletcher, died peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Advent Health.

Born in Asheville, she was the wife of William “Bill” Lytle of Fletcher. They had been married 63 years. She was the daughter of the late R.W. and Edna Estelle (Wigley) Howington. Carolyn was preceded in death by two sons, Tony and Doug Lytle.

A member of Emmas Grove Baptist Church, Carolyn was employed for over 20 years by Wal-Mart and other retail stores. She and her husband loved to travel,and took many memorable trips together.

In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by a grandson, Logan Lytle; and two great-grandsons, Harley and Easton, all of Owensboro, KY; a brother, Richard Howington and his wife Linda of Colorado Springs, CO; and a much-loved cousin who was like an adopted son, Wayne Buff of Marion, NC. She is also survived by a number of other cousins.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
