Carolina Gentry Nix, 82, of Asheville, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Aston Park HealthCare Center. A native of Madison Co., she was a daughter of the late Grover and Nettie Parris Nix. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy Gentry; brothers Robert J. Nix, Don Nix, and Harold Nix; and sisters Abbey Nix and Gaynelle Roberson. Mrs. Nix was a member of Deaverview Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Gentry and husband Roger Sledd of Nashville, TN; sons Richard Troy Gentry of Asheville, and Robert Nix Gentry and partner John Ommert of Asheville; and sisters Jackie Roberts of Morristown, TN, and Betty Davis of Tullahoma, TN. A memorial service for Mrs. Nix will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Sledd officiating. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aston Park HealthCare, 380 Brevard Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, and/or to Memory Care, 100 Far Horizon Lane, Asheville, NC 28803.

  19. Much love and prayers go out to Mrs. Carolina’s family. Mrs. Carolina’s smile and eyes would light up the activity room daily. She loved music programs and she loved her family. I was so touched to see how dedicated her family has been. She loved each one of you. You loved her and most of all she knew it. You are in my prayers.
