There are no words that I can say to anyone in the family except that I love each and everyone of you. You have been part of my extended family at WABC for many years and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Carla is now with our heavenly Father and her illness is gone. Remember that one day we will see her again.
My love,
Sandy
I was so saddened to hear of Carla’s death. The first thing I thought of was the weekend I took Carla, my Leah and Leah Payne to see New Kids on the Block when they were in the seventh or eighth grade. I will also remember Carla and how wonderful she was as she led the Enka High School Band as drum major.
I will pray for your entire family, especially the child who will never know the wonderful mother Carla would have been.
Love and prayers – Janie and Larry Adkins
To express what Carla meant to me is impossible. I look through photos and notes of encouragement that she wrote and thank God that I was priviledged enough to be her friend. We shared slumber parties, band trips & camps and all kinds of other special times together with so many special friends. Carla was truly a gift. Her light shone bright enough in her short time to last those that knew her a lifetime. She is an inspiring woman. I will be eternally grateful to her for introducing me to WABC. Carla was the kind of Christian young woman that we should model ourselves after. To her family, all of our prayers are with you and we love you. To Carla, we will see you again someday, til then we will miss you.
Our love,
Jason & Cyndi
Please know you are & have been in our prayers. We love you guys so much & pray that God’s peace & presence will surround you now & in the coming days. God’s peace ‘that passes understanding’ is what we are claiming for your family. We are here for you & hope you’ll call upon us for anything we can do for you. Love in Christ, The Watkins
Dearest Carlie, Bobbie, Terri and all of those who loved and will miss Carla.
Our lives have touched and crossed in so many ways over the years and one of the most precious was knowing Carla when she and Heath were in high school. Friday night football and band performance!
We cannot even comprehend the pain you all must be going thru, but comfort comes in knowing she was a beautiful Christian, she lived a true Christian life and you will all be joined in heaven someday.
Always remember we love you and you are in our prayers thru this most difficult time.
Love Bill and Dyrenda
ME AND MY HUSBAND WERE BOTH IN THE MARCHING BAND AT ENKA HIGH SCHOOL WITH CARLA. SHE WAS ONE OF THE NICEST PERSON I’VE EVER KNOWN. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY. GOD BLESS!
I still can’t believe that Carla is gone. I have so many wonderful memories of her that it is hard to pick a favorite, or even just one. I have known Carla for most of my life. The things that will always make me think of her are diving for books at the Venable library, spelling bees, competing for the best grades, how she helped more than she knew when Bethany died, slumber parties, marching band, and everything that I loved about being a kid. I loved Carla dearly. I will miss her so much. But I know that she was a blessing to those of us that knew her. She was always a beautiful and special woman. My prayers will continue to be with her family.
You’re in our thoughts and prayers! God Bless and Keep each one of you in your time of sorrow!
We love all of you!
Terri, my prayers and sympathy are with you. I have so much compassion for you at this time. In Christian love, Ray Fowler.
It is hard to put into words the loss that all of us will feel with Carla gone. Even though we weren’t blood related, I always considered her to be my cousin. I can remember the two of us always laughing and trying to explain to everyone how we were but we weren’t related. I can remember spending countless Saturdays, sleepovers and slumber parties with Carla as we were growing up. (wrinkles in our sleeping bags and all, Terri) Even though Carla was younger than me, I always looked up to her for the wonderful person that she was no matter what situation she was put in. I love you all. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.
Love you,
Jill
Terri & family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. No words can ever soften this loss for you. Just know that we now have another angel watching over us all.
Dale,
We love you and you are in our prayers!
May God be with the family and all the people that knew and loved Carla. May Walker always know what a wonderful Mother he had and that she loved him always…
To Carla’s precious family: Terri, Carlie and Bobbie, Dale and Lola, Mae and Doyle,
I have been Terri’s and Mae’s friend while a member at WABC. I have prayed many prayers for Carla and all of you. One can not begin to know the sorrow in your hearts. If I could do something to ease your pain I would but only God can do that. Just remember that God will give you peace that ‘passeth all understanding.’ Just know I will continue to pray for you and my thoughts and love will be with you. My deepest sympathy. Pat Burcham
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Carla was very special to me. I will always remember her from Venable Elementary School.
Please know that your family is in my prayers.
Terri and Family: What a sweet and wonderful person that we will miss so dearly. I remember babysitting for Carla when she was just 2 or 3 years old and fixing her ‘favorite’ meal MACARONI AND CHEESE!!! I pray for ALL the family that God will place His arms around each of you and cradle you in His loving mercy. She cannot come back to us but our comfort is we will ALL be with her again someday soon! I love each of you and send my prayers each and everyday for your comfort and peace.
Terri and Family,
My deepest condolences are extended to you all as you grieve the loss of such a precious child. I remember teaching Carla in First Grade Sunday School. She was my favorite, always bright and attentive. She will be missed. I pray the Lord will sustain you and lift you up as you walk through this valley. I love you!!!
Terry, Bob,Chip and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this sad time.
We know that there are no words, but hopefully you can find comfort in family, friends and most of all in God’s grace. We will always remember Carla as a very sweet and smiling young lady at Enka High. Our daugher, Sheri, was lucky to have had Carla as a freind.
God Bless,
Bob and Carol Blackwell
Terri: My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My God bless you all.
Terri,
You and your family have been in our constant thoughts and prayers. I pray that you will find comfort in your friends, family and loved ones during this time. Know we love you and care.
My sincere sympathy to all the family and I will be praying for each of you. Some of my fondet memories of Carla are the many times I saw her lead the Enka High Band on the field and the times she was in my home with my daughter, Cyndi and all the other girls, especially when Cyndi would have her annual New Year’s Eve Slumber and Birthday Party. Carla will always have a very special place in my heart and be remember as one of my girls. Terri, please remember I am here and will be praying for you and the family. May God bring you comfort and a peace at this time and in the days ahead. May God be with you. Love and Prayers,Tava
Terri & Dale,
Our thoughts and prayers our with you during this time. We know how much you loved Carla and we remember her as a little girl at Conservco.
With much love from us both,
Jackie & Patricia Sprinkle
Carla,
Words cannot express how much your friendship meant and will forever mean to me. You have touched so many with your radiant and inspirational personality. We can all stand to learn from your testimony and life story. Without a complaint you were always there for me from the most petty situation to the most important situations. Your generous friendship during our school years as well as your ambitious attitude towards life helped shape the way I deal with many things today. I will always be grateful for the times we shared however brief they may seem now; the New Kids concert, numerous slumber parties, being lab partners in Biology, marching band, and all the late night phone conversations regarding ALL those issues we thought were so imperative during our teen years 🙂 I know that where you are now, you have a smile. And the thought of your smile brings comfort. Always, ‘I will remember you …. and weep not for the memories.’
I love you my friend,
Leah
My prayers are with you now and in the days to come. I have a great fondness in my heart for Carla and our times together in the WABC youth group… she blessed my life.
Carla, I did not have the luxury of knowing you well; however, know that you had the dearest mom in the world who loved you totally unconditionally. God has called you and now you are in the protective arms of Jesus and will reside with our Heavenly Father.
Terri and family,
Our hearts are broken as we think of you at this time of Carla’s death. The loss of your precious child is unimaginable. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and we so wish that we could be. We pray that the Lord will hold each of you in his arms and comfort you more than ever. We love you….Patti, Mike, Jordan, Jared, and Jacob
What can you say at a time like this? I wish that there was some magical word that I could say to take all of your pain away. I have prayed for Carla so many times in the past month that God would touch and heal her body. But that wasn’t a part of his plan. I have found myself asking the same question many times since Sunday- Why? How could he take her in the prime of her life and leave that sweet little boy to grow up without a wonderful mommy to care for and to love him? Then I realized that I shouldn’t question because only the good Lord knows what the future holds. I know that Walker will always know what an amazing woman she was because you all will keep her memory alive in all that you do. My prayer for all of you is that you find much comfort in knowing that one sweet day, God is going to call all of us home and we will get to see that beatiful smile again. My thoughts and prayers are will you all.
Caryn,
I have been thinking back to sixth grade (Gosh, that seems so long ago dosen’t it?!)and all the time that we spent together. And I am so thankful that through our friendship I got the priviledge of getting to know Carla. I will never forget all the nights that I stayed at your house. I always thought it would be so neat to have a big sister like yours. She was always so kind to me and she always made me feel so welcome. Do you remember Carla making those biscuits that we rolled in sugar and cinnamon? I will never forget that. She always made the time for us. We probably got on her nerves but she would have never let us know!! What a special person! I know that this is probably the hardest thing that you have ever been through. I want you to know that no matter what, I am here for you. All you have to do is call my name and I’ll be there! I have always treasured you and your family and I always will. I pray that God will wrap you in his loving arms and that there you will find his peace.
I love you
Christina
Ms. Terri,
I just wanted you to know that I am praying for you. What a wonderful example you must have set for Carla to follow as she was growing up.
The person that she was reflects on you and all the things you taught her. All her beliefs and the things that she stood forI know she saw in you because I saw them in you also. I will always be grateful to have known such a special family.
Remember that on Tuesday morning about 2:00am, God glanced all through his garden in Heaven and as beatiful as it already is, it was missing something. That’s when he came and wrapped his strong arms around such a unique flower and took her with him. See, there is no one else like Carla and he needed her radiant glow to make heaven a little bit sweeter. So until we get to be with her again, everytime you step outside and feel the warmth of the sun you will know that it comes from the most beatiful flower in heaven. I Love You So Much!!
God Bless You Always
Christina

Dearest Terri & family,

I will see you soon, though I cannot be with you right now. Please know that my prayers and love are with you, and rest in the assurance that Carla is rejoicing in her new home and God is preparing the way for each of us. We love you.

I AM SO SORRY ABOUT CARLA. I REMEMBER WHEN SHE WAS 4 YEARS OLD, AUDREY AND I WERE WORKONG THE EXTENDED SESSION AND CARLA WAS PRETENDING TO BE A WAITRESS AND SHE ASKED WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER. I TOLD HER M AND SHE REPLIED ‘ I SORRY BUT WE DON`T SERVE THAT AT WESTERN STEER’ I HAVEN’T EVER FORGOT THAT. SHE WAS PRECIOUS. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. LOVE AMM0N
Dale,
We are very sorry to hear of the loss of Carla. We did not know her, but if she was anything like her dad she was a wonderful person. I can’t imagine the loss of a child and pray that you will keep your faith in the Lord to get you through this loss. We love you and Sharon and will help any way we can. We will certainly keep you in our prayers.
Love in Christ, Ronnie & Kay
To Carlie&Bobbie&family: Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
Her smile. That is what I always think of whenever someone talks about Carla. It’s something you will never forget. That, and her zest for life and living. She was so upbeat about everything. After I learned of her illness, I knew in the back of my mind, no matter how sick she may become, she would still have a smile on her face. Her earthly body may be gone, but her spirit will remain. She will always be in the heart and soul of all who knew and loved her. How can you ever forget an angel like her? She never forgot us.

I remember so well the joy and life of Carla. I remember her getting into the spirit of our ‘FISH’ days by painting fish on all the windows for us. She and I would talk arts and crafts and I always wanted to see her artwork some day. Love to you Carla, Chip and Walker.
Our Prayers and our Love are with you Terri. Terri, the other day, Lacy said, ‘Mom, I know it is sad that Carla died, but we can be glad we are going to see her when we get to heaven’. From the mouth of our six year old. Our prayers are with you.

One day she passed by my office and noticed my Nascar memorabilia I had, particularly the #3 car. And we just hit it off from there. She found out that I had another collectible car that her husband wanted so I offered to sell it to her. She knew that it was a rare collectible but I insisted that she buy it a very marked down price which made her so happy. She told me that it made her husband very happy which pleased me. I never saw her having a bad day and her glow would pick me up when I was having a less than perfect day. I will never forget her smile. God Bless you Carla. Heaven is very lucky to have you.

Carla will be missed greatly, my sincere condolences to her entire family. Please never let Walker forget what a wonderful person his mother was. God bless you all.
I would like to send my deepest condolences to all of the family. You are all in my prayers.
In a work environment it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day routine and to forget the simple things like ‘smiling’ and saying ‘thank you’. Carla never forgot the simple things. Carla’s office, adorned with pictures of her family, was always a bright spot at Convergys. We will all miss her light.
Carla trained me when I first became a Reports Specialitst at Convergys. She has always been the steady, consistent one that we all could rely on to keep her ‘cool’. I remember when she and Chip got ‘hooked’ on my husband’s homemade Bar-B-Q Sauce. I can remember us discussing how to use the sauce to the best advantage and laughing at the things we thought up. I know she loved Walker and Chip very, very much as she was loved here by everyone she knew. She touched our lives for a short time but we are all enriched because of her wonderful personality. All of our sympathies are with her family and friends. She will never be forgotten!
To the Family of Carla Brown,
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family members of a very special person.
Carla was always a person that you could count on to be smiling in the midst of everything.
My prayers are with you at this time. May God richly bless you and keep you in his arms.
My prayer is that Walker will always know that his mother was a truly wonderful person.
It was a pleasure to work with her.
Carla was indeed a special woman — She truly did have a smile on her face and a courage and light that shined bright for anyone who was lucky enough to come in her path. She exhibited such love for her family – a love that will surely extend through Chip & Walker’s lifetimes as well as the rest of those who loved her. Her presence will be missed greatly, however the spirit of how she chose to live her life and love her friends and family will continue on. God Bless.
What a wonderful experience to have known Carla Brown! Her smile is unforgettable and will always be remembered. May God give you peace in this time of bereavement…
‘Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints’ Psalm 116:15
My thoughts and prayers go out to Carla’s family. I will never forget how helpful and appreciative Carla was to everyone. I know and everyone who worked with her knows how much she loves Chip and Walker. (Her office was covered with pictures.) I will truly miss her happy face here at convergys. No matter what kind of day she was having she always had a smile.
To the family of Carla Brown,
I worked with Carla at Convergys in Jacksonville and I feel honored to have known her. Many others have written of Carla’s bright smile and spirit, but I too wanted to mention that she had the same impact on my life. Carla had a beautiful spirit. I also wanted to share with you a poem that provided me comfort after I lost my grandparents who raised me.
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
I’ve found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lenghten it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now;He set me free.
I know that Heaven is a little brighter now that Carla is there.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Terri Laird
Carla was one of the most genuine people I ever knew, and I thank God that He gave me the privilege of having her as a friend.
Chip, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family now.

Carla was a great friend and person to work with. She always showed great concern and sincere feelings towards anyone she came in contact with. She touched all of our hearts. I am so sorry to have lost a friend at such a young age, but there is no doubt that she is a true angel in heaven. She will be missed tremedously by her friends here in Jacksonville.
CARLA WAS MY RESIDENTIAL ADVISOR (RA) WHEN I WAS A FRESHMAN AT MARS HILL COLLEGE IN 1996. SHE WAS THE FIRST PERSON THAT I MET WHEN I ARRIVED ON CAMPUS. HER BUBBLY PERSONALITY AND ZEST FOR LIFE WERE EVIDENT IN HER SMILE AND SWEET WAYS. SHE WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE YOU KNEW WAS A CHRISTIAN JUST BY LOOKING AT HER. SHE WAS A GREAT ROLE MODEL AND WAS GENUINELY CONCERNED ABOUT ALL HER RESIDENTS. SHE GAVE WONDERFUL ADVICE, I JUST WISH I WOULD HAVE LISTENED TO HER A LITTLE MORE OFTEN. I REMEMBER ALL SHE TALKED ABOUT WAS CHIP. SHE REALLY LOVED HIM. THERE WAS NOT A MOMENT THAT WENT BY THAT SHE WASN’T TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH SHE CARED ABOUT HIM. SHE TALKED A LOT ABOUT HER FAMILY AND HOW IMPORTANT YOU ALL WERE TO HER, ALSO. THE TIME SHE SPENT ON THIS EARTH WAS A BLESSING TO ALL WHO CAME IN CONTACT WITH HER. SHE WAS AS BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE AS THE OUTSIDE. IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO FOR THE FAMILY, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. MAY YOU ALL KNOW THAT MY CONDOLENCES ARE WITH YOU ALL MAY GOD’S LOVE HOLD YOU UP IN THIS TIME OF NEED. I AM THANKFUL THAT I WILL SEE HER AGAIN, ONE DAY. IN HIM, AMANDA ROBINSON
Dale and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Gayla Franklin
Chip,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry.
Lesley
Please accept my deepest sympathy.
Carla was an outstanding student at Mars Hill College in Business Computer Applications. She served with distinction as a Student Supervisor of the Marshbanks Computer Laboratory.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
It’s been over a year now since you left and went to heaven. I still rememeber your sweet smile, your kind words, and incouragement when I was feeling down. I did the things you asked of me before you got so sick that we could not talk. Chip and Walker are still apart of my family and our lives. They are very important to us. Thank you again for all that you brought into our lives and I hope someday to return the guidance and love you shared with me to someone else. I know you are in God’s hands and you watch over us everyday. I hope that you know your life was not for nothing, that you have touch some many lives and hearts that you will live on in some many.
I am so sorry to hear of Carla’s death. She was my RA at Mars Hill, and I think so highly of her!
Chip,
I just want you to know that you are in my prayers and I love ya. Carla was always putting a smile on my face, she just made a room light up when she entered. Carla was a strong person, I knew that I could always count on her. She was beautiful inside and out. I could never forget her. She was like a sister to me, I love her. You are like a brother and you can call on me for anything. You are in my prayers.
‘The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe’ (Carla was righteous, and she ran to the Lord and now she is safe.)
To Walker,
I remember when your mother was pregnant, and how excited she was. I remember when she could first feel you kicking and we had a calendar in her office where we all were guessing how big you would be, and when your birthday would be.
After you were born, Carla took hundreds of pictures of you, and talked about you all the time. We used to laugh at all the funny pictures of you Carla had all over her office.
Your mother was one of the only people I ever met who was always in a good mood and never complained. When she first got sick, I was pregnant. She would always ask how I was, and how I was feeling. When I would ask about her, she was always more interested in hearing about how everyone else was doing.
You should know that your mother was a smart, beautiful, warm and happy person. She was kind and generous and so proud of you and Chip.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Lisa
Carla was a very pleasant and giving person. I enjoyed working with Carla at Convergys. She and I are both from Asheville. I can remember our conversations we would share about our trips home. Carla had a big heart that kept on giving. She will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Cindy
I had been praying for Carla and her family for almost a year. I went back to work at Convergys and met Carla, she was always so nice and had a smile for eveyone. We became friends and she told me about her sickness and treatments. I remember all the pictures in her office, everyone knew she was a very proud parent. My son is a few months older than Walker, we use to discuss what our boys were getting into and what cute thing they did last weekend.
I think God must have had a purpose for Carla, to have taken her so soon. I pray Walker will grow up knowing what a wonderful mom he has, and that she will watch over him from heaven.
I will continue to pray for your family.
Leana
I am so sorry to hear about Carla’s passing. I did not know about it until last night. I would like for you to know you are and have been in my prayers for a long time. May God bless you and help fill that void in your lives. I know that filling that space is going to be difficult. Just think about it as her being Walker’s ANGEL that will always watch over him. Please know you are and will continue to be in my prayers. We love you all. May God pour his peace and understanding over the entire family.
Love Wilma

We shared great conversation during the many hours she was on the apheresis machine. We all loved Carla. My sympathy to her family and friends.
I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE CARE OF HER DURING HER STAY IN THE UNIT, HOWEVER I ASSISTED OTHERS IN HER CARE. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU AND MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU FOR THE LONG ROAD AHEAD.
Family and friends,
I had the great pleasure of working with Carla at Convergys. I’ve always felt that Carla was blessed with a rare, very special, soft personality. I remember her laugh, her quick recipes, and her cute outfits. They make me smile. It’s the sweet, innocent things about Carla that I miss so much in people. I would love to thank Carla for just being who she was and for showing me how important and impacting it is to share love. Carla is everything I would like my own daughter to be.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.
Carla’s bright smile will surely be missed. She was always so full of life- I am thankful that I was able to know her and care for her.Her Mom, Dad, Chip and Walker are in my heart and in my prayers.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Carla at Convergys Corp. in Jacksonville. She was always a bright shining star for everyone. Even during the worst times of her illness, she always had a kind word and a smile. She will be most certainly missed.
Carla,
You are still in my thoughts nearly every day. I pray for your family and look forward to meeting you again one day. You had an amazing impact on my life. I only wish that I had shared that with you.
