Carl Howie King, Jr., age 90, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation Center located in Asheville.
Mr. King was born in Lynchburg Virginia, to the late Carl Howie King Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Eskridge King. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Coleman King.
Carl and Mary relocated to Arden in 1965 after Carl’s service in the Army. He had received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and worked as a Real Estate Broker and Appraiser in Asheville. Mr. King was an avid sportsman who loved fishing and the great outdoors. He was a longtime honorary member of the Rosscraggon Wildlife Preserve. Carl enjoyed music, mountain views, keeping his yard in pristine condition and offering a helping hand to his neighbors. He was a devoted family man a will surely be missed.
He is survived by his two children; William “Bill” Coleman King and Karen King Christopher (Duane); three grandchildren, Michelle Taylor (John), Ashley King and Tyler King; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Skyland United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
A private burial will take place at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Skyland United Methodist Church, c/o Carl H. King, Jr. Memorial Fund, 1984 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
