Carl Anthony Obuchowski, 80, US Army veteran, died peacefully in his sleep March 6th, 2021. He was born June 3rd, 1940 in Astoria, NY.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Peggy Obuchowski; his children, Matthew Obuchowski (Celeste) of Chicago, Mary Beth Herman (Eli) of Asheville, and Cindy Kalet (Mike) of Wake Forest; his beloved grandchildren, Zach and Ben Herman, Jacob and Caitlin Kalet, Jason and Matt Herman, John Halko, Amanda Marzano, and Jessie Rehn; and numerous great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Theresa Sissick, Alphonse Obuchowski (Sandra), Regina Kinsman (Bill), Anthony Obuchowski (Carmella), Joseph Obuchowski (Karen), and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Obuchowski was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Regina Obuchowski, Bridgeport, CT, and by his eldest son, Carl Anthony Obuchowski, Jr.

Originally from Bridgeport, CT, Carl moved to Hurt, VA and lived there for 41 years before moving to the Asheville area. During his time in VA, he was very active in the St. Victoria Catholic Church, the Hurt Lions Club and the Pittsylvania County School Board.

He is a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

We want to send a heartfelt thankyou to all the home health aides and CarePartners Hospice who have helped care for him over the years.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the St. Joan of Arc Serenity Garden, with the Rev. Fr. Dean Cesa officiating.
