Calvin Henry Moore, 88, of 126 Shelba Drive, Candler, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at the VA Medical Center. Mr. Moore was born in Madison County and was a son of the late Andy and Linda Goforth Moore. He was an Army veteran of WW II and worked as a crane operator for St. Mary's Cement Co., Detroit, MI. He is survived by his former wife, Lavonda Moore; sons, John Calvin Moore, Michael Andy Moore, Randy Lee Moore, Thomas Gregory Moore, and Jeffery Matthew Moore; grandsons, David Michael Moore and Jason Allen Moore; and two brothers, Melvin Moore and Paul Moore. Funeral services with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery chapel. Interment will follow in the Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

  2. to uncle calvin family, what a fine man your dad was…he was good to me as a little boy and as an adult…i spoke with him at mother’s viewing service april 14.. he said then he was sick but he honored his sisters service..we all shall miss him..roy stewart
