Phyllis and family,
We were so sorry to hear of Bud’s death. Just wanted you to know that you and your family are in my prayers.I’ve enjoyed knowing all your family over the years.
Sincerely,
Linda and Bob Norris
I can only look to Jesus Christ to replace the deep sorrow I am feeling with the joy of knowing the Master is now receiving Uncle Bud with open arms and saying ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:21) Dearest Phyllis and family, I pray these words will comfort you as you rest in the hope of eternal life that we all have when we believe in God’s Son. God does not take lightly the death of His saints. They are precious to Him as Psalm 116:15 says. I Thank God for his life – always as a servant.
Bud was a wonderful fellow and will be sorely missed.
We think Bud would have liked this:
‘Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming – – – WOW!! WHAT A RIDE!!!’
We loved him!!
Dear Phyllis, Tony, Michael, Denise, Sheena and family,
My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Bud was a true friend to all who knew him. Always pleasant, smiling and happy. Bud loved his family, he loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be truly missed.
My love to all,
Myra Ramsey
Gabriela and I send our prayers and love to the entire Patton family. I will never forget Uncle Bud and all that he taught me about life, food and the government.
We send our love to the Patton family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Denise,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort through happy memories.
Love to my wonderful family. We’ve lost a great friend in Uncle Bud. Happy Birthday Phyllis, I love you.

A special man who never knowlingly did harm to another human being. Generous, caring and compassionate. Our family trip to Canada will forever live in my memory. Here’s to Newfoundlanders, family motoring trips and the Newfoundlander’s foul alcoholic drink,’Newfy Screech’.
I grieve the passing of my long time friend. For over 40 years we have shared all that life brought to us; life, death, love, hard work, war, peace, family and always, new beginnings… We have shared the same God who created us all, and experienced Him in often different, but real ways. Bud was always there for those who had been given to him, and there for many others as a supporting, helping hand. His faith was well placed; his reward has been well recorded in the Book of Life. Until we meet again, Bud!
To the Patton family:
I want to express my deepest sympathies to you during this sad time. I was shocked to hear of Bud’s illness just a couple of weeks ago. I believe my father, Dave Matthews, was there to welcome Bud home.
God Bless you all.

Sometimes it is difficult to know exactly the right words to say during a time of such a great loss. Remember that he is in a better place, one in which there is no pain or suffering. May each of you gain strength in knowing that he is with the Lord and that Jesus will provide a blessing for those of us who remain on earth, as earth has no sorrows that Heaven cannot heal. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God give you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Dearest Phyllis & Children, I am so sorry for your deep loss. I am sure he is at peace and free of pain now. I bet Bud and Mother are having a good time talking and catching up on things. They always did enjoy each other. If there is anything at all I can do for you, you know I will. I pray God will take care of you and the kids and ease your pain. With love to you all.
Meeting and knowing Bud was one of the greatest pleasures our First Families of Old Buncombe program has had. We were so proud of him. Our deepest heartfelt sympathies go to the family. We will sorely miss him, but we know he is rejoicing in having resolved all his genealogical mysteries and being united with his ancestors. Heaven truly has another jewel!
I am so sorry for your loss, but know that you will have many wonderful memories to look back upon, including the recent Kentucky Derby trip.
Bud, was a sweet generous man who enriched the lives of those who knew him. He was also a great cook, who taught me the importance of okra in a gumbo (but pimentos do not belong in corn bread).
Love

My love and prayers to all my cousins on the loss of their ‘Uncle Bud.’ From my brief time at the National Climatic Data Center, I have good memories of your uncle’s friendly greetings, sense of humor, and genuine good nature.
We are so sorry for your lost. It was a privilege to have met Bud.
Phyllis and family, I am so saddened to hear of Bud’s passing. I have so many good memories of him when I used to visit in his home with Lilly. If there ever was a good man he was it. I don’t know what the Patton family would have done without him over the years. I’m sure you, too, recognized a jewel in the rough. Love and sincere sympathy to all.
Martha

Dear Denise and Family, I am so sorry that I can’t be there today. Your Dad was my second favorite ‘Bud’! I know this means nothing right now but you will soon see that life is so much better for him now. From my own experience I know how much you have had to watch him suffer. My prayers are with you all as I feel as though you are all my family too. My love to all,
Kim ‘Holt’ Dawson
