Brenda Jean Presley, 63, of Fletcher, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of Bruce and Jean Davenport Hollingsworth of Enka. In addition to her parents, Brenda is survived by her husband, Gerald Presley; one daughter, Amanda Hamilton and her husband, Cliff, of Fletcher; two sons, Donnie Davis, II of Beach Mtn., NC and Michael Davis of Asheville; two sisters, Judy Garrison of Pinehurst, NC and Connie Saunders of Orlando, FL; one brother, Buddy Hollingsworth of Washington, DC; seven grandchildren, Brittney "Horse Head", Halie "Turtle Toes", Stephanie, Georgia, Dallas, Zowie and Makayla as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. An informal gathering celebrating Brenda's life will be held from 1:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her residence, 63 Robinson Drive, Fletcher. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the residence of her parents, Bruce and Jean Hollingsworth, 53 Edgewood Road, Candler, NC 28715. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Brenda's memory to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  1. Oh mama I miss you soooo much it hurts!!! I can’t sleep stop crying or get it together. I still wait on you to call and ask me to bring you something in. I look at your chair and can see you sitting there smiling. Logan is so sad Gerald is holding it together but so sad. We miss you sooooo much

One sweet memory I have of her is how you Jean would dress her in such cute little outfits when she was little. So precious to remember. Today she is well and with all those in our family who were there to meet her. Can’t you just imagine that! I love you all.

  6. Cousin Jean, Bruce & Family—I was so saddened to read of Brenda’s passing. I remember to this day playing together & other cousins when we would come down to NC to visit. You are all in my thoughts & prayers as you go through this sad time.

  7. To all the family, I was so sorry to hear of Brenda’s passing. She was my 2nd cousin and I had not seen her in several years. But I have many memories of times with Davenport get togethers. I pray she is now with her Grandmother and other family on the other side without pain & sorrow. Thoughts & prayers are offered for all who loved her & will miss her.

  12. Our prayers and condolences go out to the family at this time. She was a friend in school. I used to see her when I worked at Dillard’s Biltmore Square Mall. She used to pop in and say Hi. When I moved to SC. I didn’t get to see her again. She will surely be missed by all who knew her. Will keep you guys in prayer.

  15. My Dearest Cousin Jean and family. My heart breaks for all of you. The last time I saw Brenda was years ago at a Flea Market when I was visiting my family. Having lost both my sisters with in 2 months of each other, Judy & Connie, I can certainly relate to you. Be there for each other. Prayers for comfort and strength for all of you during this sad and trying time. Our comfort is in knowing, if we believe what we believe……we’ll meet again !! Love to all.

I hope that you can find some comfort in God’s Word the Bible. Acts 24:15 says, ‘I have hope toward God…that there is going to be a resurrection…’ Here the Bible is assuring us that in the near future we have the hope of being reunited with our loved ones we have lost in death.
