Betty Lou Hudgins Roberts

betty roberts
Betty Lou Hudgins Roberts, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2015. She was a daughter of the late Arville and Ina Hudgins. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Chad Everett; and brothers, James William Hudgins, Jack Arville Hudgins, and Jerry Leon Hudgins. Betty was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She would say her life accomplishment was providing a safe, loving, and nurturing home environment for her husband and children. On most days, she could be found spending her time in her yard and flower gardens. She was awarded two Governors Yard of the Year awards; one for her water features and another for her natural habitat that she created. In her spare time, she enjoyed feeding, watching and identifying birds. She loved outdoors and had such a "green thumb" that her husband said she once set a fence post and it grew into a tree! Betty previously owned a floral business and was very accomplished with sharing her talents of decorating, and arts & crafts. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in sporting and school events. She was the director of a championship clogging dance team. You could always find her hosting holiday celebrations and special events. She made a special effort to include people with displaced families. Betty loved telling people about her Lord and Savior and all that he had done for her. Surviving are her loving husband and soul mate of 53 years, JR Roberts; sons, Joel David Roberts and wife Wendi and Craig Eugene Roberts and wife Glenice; daughter, Krissy Roberts Case and husband Eric; sister, Barbara Hudgins Lanning, grandchildren, Joel Craig Roberts, Jonathan Walton Roberts, Dillon Craig Roberts, Devin Cole Roberts Taralyn Kayle Roberts, Christian Alexander Case, Dannon Caleb Roberts, Charlstyn Ava Case, and Dreanna Chandley Roberts; great-grandchildren, McKileigh Anne Roberts, Aubry Faith Roberts; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 9th, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at West Asheville Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Welch officiating. Burial will be at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, to be announced at a later date. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  18. To the Roberts Family
There are no words we can find to express our feelings for the loss of Betty Lou..After knowing her for 40+ yrs, we will miss her..It seems like just yesterday that we were living on Nebraska Ave and We ‘Played’ with all her kids plus many many other kids., took them sledding, on trips, Racing cars,. Riding bikes with them, video games, etc. Now you kids are grown and have kids of your own..We hope you never forget these things. And, when you all lived in Emma oh HOW MANY times had we been over there..Playing cards every Friday Night, and many other nights.. eating thanksgiving Dinner. (Betty was a great cook),and come Christmas we were there too. We celebrated so many holidays with Betty Lou, JR, and her kids. Sometimes just sitting on her porch and talking, sending JR to the store to get us coffee and goodies..She had some beautiful flowers and Water Gardens. I, like Betty Lou, love to talk and we would sit there and talk for hours on her porch…It is harder on the ones left behind..GOD WILL GET YOU THROUGH THIS. Sending loving and healing prayers to all of you straight from our hearts.

we remember the walks on the golf course…There are just SO MANY GREAT things we did together. She will be Sorley and Sadly Missed by many, many people. She was a very special person..And, now, she is up there walking the Streets of Gold and among all those beautiful flowers.( She probably is showing them how to plant them) 🙂 She is up there with her other loved ones and feeling no pain waiting for the rest of us to come to be with her someday. Again, We just Can’t find the words to tell all of you how sorry we are. We loved Betty Lou and we love the rest of her family.
We will be praying for the family. It is always harder for the ones left behind.
I will put the family on my Internet Prayer Group. Sending, sympathy, loving prayers straight from our Hearts,

  19. Barbara, we know how close you and Betty were and how you talked a lot on the phone..We know how you must miss her..We are SO sorry about her death.(I call it GRADUATION) and we are sending loving and sympathetic prayers to you…God Bless
