Betty Ann Lynch Rusk

betty ann rusk

December 23, 1934 ~ November 21, 2018

Resided in: Asheville, NC

Betty moved into her eternal home on November 21, 2018 at 8:25 in the morning. She made this move with the dignity and grace which characterized her life. She was a remarkable woman (Proverbs 31vs10-28) who brought dignity and pride to everything she undertook. The hallmark of her life was her service to her church and to her God. She sacrificed earthly rewards and treasure so she could lay up treasure in the heavenly home to which she has now gone. The last few years of her life have been characterized by the debilitating illness Alzheimers. Betty loved visits from friends. Although she could no longer express herself verbally, a smile or the twinkle in her eyes let you know she was comprehending what was happening. The joy of her life was her service to Asheville's First Baptist Church. She was secretary to five pastors, although some of them were interim pastor. She loved her work at FBC and considered it to be her life's calling. Betty is survived by her husband, Orphas Dale Rusk, and several cousins and many friends. Although we are grieved by Betty's death, we know that in her father's house are many mansions, and now one of them is occupied by Betty. She is having a joyful reunion with her mother, Eva, her grandmother, Pearl, her sister, Martha, and a host of other friends who have gone on before her. Go in peace Betty, may the Lord bless you, may the Lord make his face to shine upon you, be merciful to give you peace and welcome you into your eternal home. So until we meet again Betty, save me a place at the supper table. I will be there soon. A memorial service for Betty will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, at First Baptist Church of Asheville. Rev. Leah Brown and Rev. David Blackburn will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will follow at graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia, on December 4, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 5 Oak St., Asheville, NC 28801. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
