Bertha Hart Hensley

Bertha Hart Hensley, 81, of Asheville, died Monday, July 8, 2002, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. Hensley was born in Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late John Carl and Bessie Helen Wells Hart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, H. Chever Hensley in 1986, and by a son, Ronnie Hensley in 1996. She was retired in 1984 from Mars Manufacturing Co. and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Judy Hensley Lane of Asheville, Alma Hensley Queen of Rutherfordton, and Linda Hensley Harwood of Barnardsville; one son, Rex Hensley of Black Mountain; two sisters, Pansy Cox of Asheville and Edith Wilson of Shelby; one brother, Clifford Hart of Raleigh; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Gibson and Caroll Ingle officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Marlowe, Jr., Joshua Marlowe, Robert Queen, Jr., Hank Queen, Michael Crabb, and Randy Lane. Her family will receive friends at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
