Bernice Lee Bishop

Bernice Lee Hoxit Bishop, 89, of Liberty Rd., Candler, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. A native of Jackson Co., she was a daughter of the late Eldon Lee and Anna Laura Bryson Hoxit. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hazzie Randolph Bishop, and brother-in-law Robert Robinson. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church. She worked for American Enka. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Houck and husband Steve; sister Clarise Robinson; and brothers Harold Hoxit and wife Barbara, and Johnny Hoxit and wife Frances. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pastor Steve Fox will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
