Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Bennett has been a delightful neighbor for many years, and his kindnesses to all shall be remembered forever. A true humanitarian. God Bless.

  2. We were deeply saddened, when we returned yesterday from a week’s trip, to learn of Warren’s death. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family. Lovingly, Ella Jean and Bob

  3. Bennett was married to my first cousin Sally. I always remember him as a very Godly man and a role model for us all. I wish my husband and I could have attended his funeral. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. Sallie and Dominic

  4. As the great Southern humorist, Lewis Grizzard, would have said, ‘We have lost a truly great American’! My condolences to you, Mrs. Warren, on your loss. There are a few men from this ‘greatest generation’ that I try to emulate as role models — Bennett Warren was definitely one of these men.
I still have the drum that he helped us construct in the first grade using rubber laced over a large tin can. What a fun project then and what a great treasure now. I also have fond memories from Camp Daniel Boone. Even though I was involved with another troop, Mr. Warren was a leader to us all.
As I look back over my career, I am especially thankful that a ‘true blue Ford guy’ like Mr. Warren would choose to buy another brand from me when I was just getting started. I recognize and appreciate that the purchase was more of an attempt to help me get my career started than to actually get the vehicle that would otherwise have been his first choice.
What a remarkable man! Sincerely, Jeff Barrett.

  5. Bennett Warren was one of the finest men I have ever met. He was my Father’s best friend and a wonderful person. He was truly one of God’s finest servants and he touched many peoples lives. He will be missed by my family for the rest of our days.

  6. Dear Mrs. Warren, Gary & Diana, I am sorry to hear of your lost. I remember my brother Allen in your class. Gary, Amanda and I send our love. Sincerely, Joanna and Amanda P.

  7. I have been blessed to have shared 20 years of my life with you as youths. You will always remain in my heart; my brother. Love, Jimmie

  8. I am saddened to hear of your loss. Bennett is a man that I looked up when I was growing up in Asheville. I am fortunate to have known him as part of Troop 4. He was a truely fine man who exemplified the Scout Oath and Law.

  9. Dear Sally Jo and family,
I am so saddened to hear of Bennett’s death. I remember him from the time I was a small child and I know his lifelong friendship meant a great deal to my father. May you find a path to peace.

    Love,
    Anne Katherine

  10. My heart goes out in the loss of Benet. He was and will always be a true inspiration to me as a fellow Scouter. A man who lived and practised the Scout Oath and Law at all times.

A Scout is Reverent, may God be with each of you at this time and in the days to come.

    God Bless

  14. Very sorry to hear of Mr. Warren’s passing. I have many fond memories from my years of growing up in the neighborhood with the Warren family.

  15. Prayers for the entire Warren family for this time. I have enjoyed working for and with Jim. We need more men like Bennett and Jim today.

  16. I am so sorry to learn of Bennett’s passing. Bennett Warren and Carmer Bean were synonymous with scouting at Central Church. I was a member of Troop 3 at Trinity United Methodist…it was always fun when Troops 3,4, and 8 were at Camp Daniel Boone the same week…what fun competition we did enjoy. I was Chief of the Tsali Lodge, Order of the Arrow in the mid-sixties…1966-67, I believe…also served on the Daniel Boone staff for several summers.

I was a member of the 1964 troop that went to the National Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge, PA. I remember what a great time we had…Jim and Gary, your Dad was one of the best…a true inspiration to many a young scout. He was one of the ‘good guys’ and will be deeply missed. I have been away from Asheville since college but still have family there and visit when I can.

Please know that I share in your sorrow, but most of all share in the rewards that we all reaped from your Dad.

May his spirit and godly nature remain as a source of strength to you in this time of sadness.

    Fondly,

    Daren Hutchison
