Barbara was born on February 23, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Lyle and Elsie Miller McCoy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Russell W. Gillespie, who served as the pastor of Happy Valley Baptist Church, Asheville, for 30 years; and her sister, Gaye Willix.
She is survived by son, William Gillespie; daughters, Dianne Hall and Tamela Gillespie; grandchildren, Michael Hall, Melanie Cox, Stephen Gillespie, and Elyse Mann; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Galloway; and many nephews and nieces.
The graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at South Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Perry Burke will officiate.
