Barbara Ann McGuinn

Barbara Ann Davis McGuinn of Fairview, died Wednesday February 8, 2017 at age 85. A native and life long resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Coy Alvin Davis and Elizabeth Helen Dula Davis. Barbara retired as the registrar at Asheville High School after 25 year of service, but her career was a life long devotion to her family. In retirement, she traveled extensively with her late husband William "Bill" David McGuinn Sr. She loved to sing and was an active member of Fletcher United Methodist Church. Barbara is survived by her brother Richard Gibson Davis and two sisters Betty Sue Davis Nesbitt and Patricia Davis Reynolds; her daughter Ann Elizabeth Roberts and three sons, Dr. William David McGuinn Jr. and his wife Dr. Katherine Bell-McGuinn, Alan Davis McGuinn and his wife Sally Shytle McGuinn, and Neil Patrick McGuinn Sr.; seven grandchildren, Justin Thomas Cole, Megan Lane McGuinn, Brittney McGuinn Tice, Neil Patrick McGuinn Jr., Haley Lauren McGuinn, Providence Morgaine Adair McGuinn, and William David McGuinn III; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Aaron Tice Jr. and Adelynn Rose Tice, as well as many well loved nieces and nephews. We also thank the staff at Flesher's of Fairview for their loving care. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on February 12 in the Fletcher United Methodist Church Sanctuary with Reverend Dr. Stephen Ray officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Saturday February 11. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that memorial contributions may be made to the Fletcher United Methodist Church Building Fund, 50 Library Road, Fletcher NC 28732.
