Al’s Family, I was in Wachovia’s Asheville office when Al came to work but was transferred to the Charlotte office in 1962; however, saw Al periodically through the years. He was always a loyal, efficient, and dedicated colleague and I was distressed to see this news of his death. We are never ready to lose our loved ones and the only comfort has to come from our Faith in the Sovereignty of God and the manifested concern of caring friends. We are thinking of you and hope in some small way it does help to know others do care. Joe
My best wishes to the family of ‘
Buddy’ Rader. I only know Buddy from past Stepp reunions and of his love and dedication to the family. My sympathy.
Your daughter has meant so much to our family. I hope our thoughts and prayers can help the pain in some way. Julie has told us how wonderful your family is. Howard loves her deeply. I know the love and understanding of wonderful parents made her such an inspiration to so many little ones.
God Bless
Howard II and Family

He was so well respected and liked by his co-workers and friends. Always a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you .

I’d like to say that Buddy’s family is in the Moody families prayers and thoughts. I didn’t get to see Buddy much, but always enjoyed talking with him at the Steppe reunion! God Bless all of you!
He really was the salt of the earth Chris. It’s hard to put into words how amazing and kind Alvin was. That also means he did what we should do while we’re here. We should celebrate that. Here’s to a good breakfast at Anderson’s with a great man.

I have so many memories of ‘Abin’ and the family and don’t know how to start without just saying I know how much you will miss him here on this earth but he is having the time of his life and making heaven laugh alot with his jokes and smiles. He loved all of you very much and family was so important to him as well as grands and great-grands..I remember ‘Abin’ taking Mop and I to our first concert and we were so excited and thought we were so big back then..Mop, I love you and cherish all the years we have had and will look forward to the rest of our lives talking about ‘Abin’ and remembering all the times we have had..To all the family stay in touch with each other and this will help you as you miss your Dad and husband..Love and Prayers, Susan and Dennis Griffin
Dear Sweet Family,
I can’t believe Al has been called home…Must be God needed him in heaven for a project, to ‘ref’ some Big Games, maybe ‘Pro Ball’ in Heaven?! You know he seemed to always love doing that stuff! Running around in his little striped suit making people mad! It was fun for him! (us kids too)!
The Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Father-in-law, Friend..will be sorely missed. And so it is with heavy hearts that we offer our condolences to you All.
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Buddy’s contributions to the family gatherings and the sense of family he kept going were most important contributions. My Dad was proud of the work he did, as am I. Thanks for sharing him with us. JIm Stepp, Jr.
Alvin Rader was a man’s man. After serving in the military and then working his way through college he had long and distingished career with Wachovia. He was always involved with organizations that helped others and was always willing to give back. Certainly the epitmy of a family man, holidays were always special events at the Rader house. While no longer a member of his extended family I have alwyas respected and admired Alvin. I know that all his family and friends will sorely miss him.
Bob and family, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss…our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
My Life was blessed to have been a part of Scozzie’s and families life. As a father I can think of no one that I respect or admire more. He was everything I hope to ever be for my family, loved ones, and others. Those who were lucky enough to know him whether by Alvin,Abin,Son,Red,Buddy,Scozzie know. I’ll always remember how he lit up and loved joking whenever kids were around. Alvin You will be forever loved and missed
Mavis, Pat and I are saddened to hear of the passing of Al. He was a dear friend and I will always remember the good times we spent together. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
In 1953, Alvin often rode from the USNH at Beaufort, SC with me and Carl Brittain. On several occasions, I would then drive him from Maiden on to Lenoir to see his ‘dear Mavis’. We, the personnel at the Naval Hospital, all knew how much he cared about Mavis. I am so sorry for your loss.
