Alice Doan Jones MacSorley, 89, peacefully entered into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 22, 2017, after a period of declining health.
An Asheville native, Alice was born the only child of the late Charles M. and Dona Brown Doan on September 9, 1927. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Chief Master Sergeant William Hobart Jones; and by her second husband, Bhain MacSorley.
She was a 1945 graduate of Sand Hill School.
Left to remember the good times are her daughters, Dyrenda Jones Blankenship (Bill), of Asheville, and Renee Jones Graham (Adrian), of Flagstaff, AZ; son, Bill Jones (Sandy) of Williamston, NC. Additionally, her four grandchildren, Michelle Rhodes (Vic), Heath Blankenship (Paige), both of Candler, David Clark, of Minnesota, and Amanda Jones, of Raleigh; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson will also hold her memory in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Starnes Cove Baptist Church, of which she was a member, on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Charlie Sams will officiate the service.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Pisgah Manor, who so lovingly cared for her over the past four years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Starnes Cove Baptist Church, 149 Starnes Cove Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, in her memory.

my thoughts and prayors go out to all the family. Granny Mac was one of a kind and left me many fond memorys All my love to her.
Alice was a unique person who had a sparkling wit and determination to live her life….she was a dear friend and neighbor to my mother and a loving mother to her children. She will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to her family.
