Aileen Virginia Jones Black was called to Heaven to be in the presence of the Lord the morning of October 12, 2022. She was 90 years at her passing. Born to Clovie Chelton Jones and Delia Inez Teague, in the Sandy Mush community outside of Leicester, NC in an old log cabin her grandfather built on the farm in Sandy Mush, NC. She married Isaac Reeves Black from the same community when he returned from fighting in the Korean War. She had a career in Medical Records working for several hospitals and finally retiring as the Director of Records at MUSC in Charleston, SC where she and Reeves lived until 2005.

Sunday, October 16th at 2:00 pm there will be a visitation held at West Asheville Baptist Church (926 Haywood Rd, Asheville) followed by a 3:00pm service led by the Rev. Stan Welch which will be followed by a grave side service at Jones Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Leicester, NC. Memorials may be made to the cemetery fund at Jones Valley Baptist Church or West Asheville Baptist Church’s benevolence fund in memory of Aileen. The family wishes to thank AgapeSC for their excellent care, the cokes, laughs and milkshakes for Aileen. Her last days were made so much easier because of Agape. Thanks especially to Tricia!

She is survived by her two sons David Black of Charlotte, NC and Keith (Jeanne) Black and two grandsons Cory and Ian Black of Lexington, SC. At her time of death, she resided in Lexington, SC.

  1. Sad to hear of Aileen passing. She is in her Heavenly home with Reeves. Such a beautiful cousin inside and out. Prayers for the family.

  2. So sorry to hear of Ms. Aileen’s passing. I used to see Aileen often as I visited Ms. Delia when I was the Pastor of Jones Valley Baptist Church from 1976 to 1990. Our prayers are certainly with you all as you go through this difficult time in your lives.

    • Thanks for taking the time to send us a note and introduce yourself. We have some fond memories of Jones Valley. When we started attending when we visited the farm Billy was the pastor. Sorry we missed you. Thank you for your legacy there.

  3. It was great to know such a lovely lady. I was one of her employees at MUSC..So many good memories and an awesome lady boss. She was a wonderful baker and invited us to her house during the holidays to enjoy all her delicious sweets that were homemade! My condolences and prayers go out to her family..Never forgotten..
