Jean Marie Allen

Jean Marie Allen, 83, of Brookshire Rd., died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at her home. A native of Farmingdale, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Viola Schiegt Barkalow. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret DeWolf. Mrs. Allen had previously worked as a bookkeeper in the Hyler Law Office, and later retired from Carolina Comfort Heating and Cooling. She was one of the first recipients of the Edna Award. She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Allen; son Patrick Allen and wife Patricia; step-son Thomas Allen and wife Carrie; grandchildren Kyle Jean Allen and Patrick Allen Jr.; step-grandchildren Shannon Allen and Morgan Allen; sister Shirley Brown and husband Glen; and brother-in-law John DeWolf. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
