Viola Radford Sprinkle, 85, formerly of 235 Dogwood Road, Candler, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. Sprinkle was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Thomas Stanley and Mattie Sue Bruce Radford. She was married to Max Ambrose Sprinkle who died in 1979. She was retired from Connie Fashions and was a member of the Vance Chapter #285, Order of Eastern Star, and of Pole Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Maxine White and her husband Ray of Candler, Sara Ballard and her husband John of Weaverville, Miriam Sharp and her husband Jim of Asheville and Barbara Miller and her husband Charles of Candler; two sons, Charles Sprinkle and his wife Sandi of Candler and S.J. Sprinkle and his wife Pearl of Asheville; two sisters, Sophronia Moore of Chesapeake, VA and Emma Radford of Weaverville; two brothers, Thomas S. Radford, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Norfolk, VA and Richard Radford and his wife Louise of Landrum, SC; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Thurman, G.W. Jameson, and Ron Brown officiating. Burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Sammy White, Darryl Sprinkle, Patrick Sharp, Chris Miller, Eddie Sprinkle, and Brandon Jamerson. Her family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. Sprinkle will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Maxine White, 10 White Terrace, Candler. Memorials may be made to Pole Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 96 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.

SHE WAS CALLED TO BE WITH THE LORD FOR WHAT SEEM LIKE NOT SO LONG AGO. VIOLA CAME TO SEE GRANNY AND HER VISTS WERE ALWAYS A JOY TO HER. AND NOW BOTH ARE HOME WITH OUR FATHER.
