Rufus ''Jack'' Andrew Warren, Jr., 69, of Candler, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of Rufus Andrew Warren, Sr. and the late Edith Davis Warren. He was also preceded in death by a brother Billy Warren and by three cousins, Brady and Charles Poss and Ann Meeks.
He was a retired US Navy veteran who served in Korea and Viet Nam and also worked for the US Postal service for a brief period.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a step-mother, Edith Stewart Warren; three sisters and their husbands, Loretta and Michael Changery of Weaverville, Arlene and Albert Crowe of Candler, and Carolyn and Bob Wise of Horse Shoe; four brothers and their wives, Bobby and Norma Warren of Asheville, James Warren of Arden, Danny and Laverne Warren of Candler and Dennis and Cecilia Warren of Kernersville; cousins, George and Sharon Poss, Jerry and Frances Poss, Elva Poss, Joe Meeks, Felicia Meeks and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be performed by the Buncombe County Veterans Council.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue prior to leaving for the cemetery.
