Florence Rice Hensley of 943 Tunnel Road, Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2002, at the Hospice Solace Center.
Mrs. Hensley was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late George W. and Virgie Robinson Rice and was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Rice. She was a member of Groce United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Hensley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Dick Helms of Taylorsville and Nancy and Mike Moses of Asheville; one sister, Edith Busby of Mars Hill; two brothers, John Rice of Mars Hill and James Boyd Rice of Clinton, AR; and six grandchildren, Michelle Lykins of Hildebran, Danny Cronin of Charlotte, Jennifer Baier and Randy Angel of Taylorsville, Rick Angel and Rusty Angel of Trinity; five great-grandchildren and a long time family friend, Pauline Luckett.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Groce United Methodist Church with the Revs. Carl Johnson, Jim Faggart and Sallyanne McVay officiating. Private interment will be at Ashelawn Gardens. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where she will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
