William Philip Murch, Jr.
June 26, 1923 ~ March 14, 2002

A native of Brooklyn, NY, and a resident of Arden for 36 years, Mr. Murch was a son of the late William Philip Murch, Sr. and Louise Frances Griesch Murch and the husband of the late Marion P. Murch who died in November of 2000. They were married for 51 years. Mr. Murch was also preceded in death by a brother, Warner Murch.
Mr. Murch served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He retired as a printer from Printpack in 1989 after 13 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #70 and Francy Burdette Post 70 of Asheville.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Murch Bowen of Fletcher and a son, Philip W. Murch and his wife, Jeanette of New Braunfels, TX.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11:00 AM at Shepherd Memorial Park with Rev. Ed Hillman officiating. The Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team will conduct graveside rites.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
