Lucy Davis Shepard, 89, formerly of Asheville, died Saturday, December 20, 2003, at a Charlotte nursing home.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Warren Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Shepard.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn S. Simendinger of Fort Mill, SC; a son, Vance C. “Tom” Shepard of Greensboro; one sister, Mattie Morgan of Asheville; four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Austin Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 pm Monday prior to the service and request that memorials be made to one’s favorite charity.

To Tom and Evelyn;the morgan family would like to extend our deepest sympathy to both of you and your families. We were sad to hear of Aunt Lucy passing away.i am speaking on behalf of Arnold, Rodney, Christine as well. mother is not well herself and is pisgah manor nursing facility. she has been there for some time now. rodney works there as well and is with her and sees her on a daily basis.I do hate the fact that we did lose contact with each other through out the years. sometimes these things are not controlled by anyone we will always remember Lucy and still have fond memories of her. here is my cell phone number if you would like to talk to me sometime, 828-275-1310. my very best to you in your time of grief.
