Mae Stamey Spain

Mae Stamey Spain, 96, of 824 Candler Knob Road, Asheville, died Friday, February 22, 2002, at Madison Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Spain was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Jake and Delia Norris Stamey. She was married to the late Harry W. Spain, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Helen Jones of Leicester and Dorothy Hoyle of Jacksonville, FL; one son, Harry W. Spain, Jr. of Pearland, TX; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren,and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday and Monday evenings at the funeral home.
