Richard Lee Slagle, 32, of Warrens Creek Road, Candler, died Tuesday, February 19, 2002.
Mr. Slagle was born in Buncombe County and was a 1988 graduate of Enka High School. He was employed by Slagle Motor Co.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Crystal Frisbee Slagle; his parents, Lloyd Slagle, Sr. and his wife Rosemary of Asheville; his mother, Janice Slagle of Hendersonville; four brothers, Randy Slagle and Lloyd Slagle, Jr. of Hendersonville and Chris Slagle and Gary Slagle of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Houston, Ralph Sexton, Jr., and Scott Wade officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Hey Richard, I wanted you to know we all still miss you very much. The holidays are coming up and it’s a bad time for me. Our family seems to get smaller every year. I think about you often. I know you are in a better place but I wished you could have stayed with us longer. You made a good impression on everyone you met. You would go out of your way to help people. It would be nice if we could turn back time but we can’t. You are still in our hearts and thoughts each day. You are stilled loved and missed but alot of people. They don’t make them like you anymore. I just wanted to wish you happy holidays and we will remember you through all of them. We will all meet again one day.

Hey Richard, I know your birthday was yesterday and wanted you to know I didn’t forget about you. Happy Birthday Richard. You are truly missed and thought about often. I still don’t understand why things had to be this way. You are such a good hearted person. It doesn’t seem fair that bad things happen to good people. God knows what he’s doing so I have to trust in him. We miss you coming over and having supper and chocolate cake with us. Just to let you know you will always have a place in my family. We loved Richard very much. He always had something funny to tell us. We have so many fond memories that we will always cherish. He was always concerned about how we were getting along. He never complained to us about anything.He was a pure joy in our lives. I will always remember how excited he was when he told us about his beautiful girlfriend Crystal. We knew even then Richard would marry Crystal one day. To see that kind of love is rare. I am sure he is with Jesus and we will be together FOREVER one day.
