Asheville - Azalee Hare Huntsinger, 77, of 524 School Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at her residence.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Minnie Belle Ownsbey Hare and wife of the late Harold Huntsinger.

She was a retired employee of the Buncombe County school system and a member of the Sunnyview Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Tom Huntsinger of Fairview and George Huntsinger of Marion; a sister, Josephine Walker of Fairview; three brothers, the Rev. Donald Hare, Arnold Hare and James Hare, all of Asheville; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday in New Salem Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Rick Harris. Her family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road and at other times will be at the home of Rick and Debbie Harris, 551-A School Road.

  1. My grandma was a very special person. I really miss her. The best memory I have of her is the breakfast she would cook. She would always make special trips, down to the basement to get the apple butter and apple sauce. I loved it over there. I want everyone to know I am praying for you.I know grandma is with god.

Mamaw it has been several years now since you have gone home,I miss you everyday…Oh how I wish Hannah and Matthew could of met you…Me & Dad & Mom set down the other day & watched some old home movies…I wish you was still here,Just to set down and hear your voice one more time is all I want..someday we’ll be together again never to part…I love you Mamaw and miss you a lil more everyday!!!!
